Hi all! I, uh, don't really know what to say here other than welcome and I'm super excited to see this amount of interest in the project. :D  Between this, DW, and Facebook, we've got about 40 people (and their children and boyfriends lol) signed up so far.

There are a couple of things I need to go over with you guys. First off, please note that I am not terribly familiar with using the LJ or DW community system, so if I'm doing things inefficiently or incorrectly, please please please let me know.

Now, to business:

1) Casting
I am really pleased that we've got enough people onboard that a full cast version is even possible, but of course, now there's the issue of deciding who gets what role. I don't want to do something like make the casting calls myself - that defeats the purpose of this being a cafe love child in the first place - though I guess I will if I have to.

So what do you guys think of posting audio clip "auditions" and having the cafe vote on it over on Sam's blog? Obviously, there are lots of people who love the books and have their own headcanons and headvoices for the characters that don't want to participate in the actual podficcing part, but this is a small way for everyone to have their little bit of input.

(And I do think we're very mature and would behave in good taste, but the last thing a big collab project like this needs is - while I trust that it wouldn't escalate to the level of wank - mixed feelings about participation. All easily avoidable with a public poll.)

2) Admin/Mods
A few people mentioned that they'd be willing to help with the organazational side of things, and if you're still up for it, I could really use your help! Once things get underway, it would be nice to divvy up duties between people, or even just have someone to monitor for additional volunteers in comments that I may miss. One big thing that I could use help with is...

3) The Character List
When the book comes out on the 1st, I will be going through the PDF and compiling a list of characters and their accents. Once we know how many charcters there are and what accents we need, then we can get an idea of how to divvy up the speaking parts. This is, as you can imagine, not a small tast.

I've already started compiling a list of characters (which will probably change a bit with the published copy) and their corresponding accents. Many aren't really specified but we can guess (Nigel on the ship, for instance), and others are really specific (Purva, who starts out with a French accent but picks up Australian very easily).

I know lots of us are going to be rereading The Dead Isle when it is released on the 1st. If you would be willing to take note of the characters with dialogue and help me with the character list, please comment below. If we get multiple people, we can separate it up into chapter groups. The more, the merrier!

4) The Crew List
I've made up a chart of our volunteers and what you volunteered for, what accents you can do, etc., based on the comments you left. Please go check and see that I read your comments correctly! Some of you said things like "I can do accents" which I took to mean all accents and marked x's all across the board. Some of you mentioned narration specifically, so I didn't put you down for reading a character - which might not be what you meant. So please, go check and make corrections! Add categories or accents as needed. People who specified being male are marked in blue.

Also, some of you commented only on Facebook, as far as I can tell, and I am unaware of any other username by which to address you. If you prefer to go by your LJ/DW handle and don't want your name listed, please change it accordingly.

When you make changes to the document, be very careful that you're not marking x's on someone else's row and be sure to save it.
